Swami Sivananda

Swami satyananda was born at Almora , Uttar Pradesh in 1923. He met swami sivananda in 1943 in Rihikesh and adopted the Dashnami sannyasa order of life . In 1955 he left his guru’s ashram to live as a wandering mendicant and Swami satyananda toured internationally and authored over 80 books, some of which are university texts worldwide. Satyananada Yoga became a tradition which combines classical knowledge with experiential understanding and a modern outlook. BSY was developed into an international yoga university, Bihar Yoga Bharati I 1994. He attained mahesamadhi a yogic accomplishment of discarding the body at will in 2009 in the presence of his disciples

Swami Satyananda

Swami Sivananda was born at Paltamadai, tamil Nadu in 1887. After serving as a medical doctor in Malaya, he went to Rishikesh and was initiated into the holy order of sannyasa in 1924. He travelled extensively thought India, inspiring people to practise yoga and to lead a divine life. He founded the Divine Life society at Rihikesh in 1936. During his lifetime Swami sivananda guided thousands of disciples and aspirants all over the world and authored over 300 books. He attained mahasamadhi in 1963.
